Balefire Kent — Electrical Services, George Town
Balefire Kent was established to serve the particular needs of George Town's built environment — a place where traditional five-foot-way shophouses stand alongside more recent apartment blocks, and where an electrician needs to be comfortable with both.
Our practice grew from the observation that many heritage property owners in Penang had difficulty finding electrical practitioners willing to take time with older installations. Too often, complex wiring accumulated over decades was met with quick judgments and costly, unnecessary replacements.
We began offering visits that prioritized understanding first — examining a property carefully, discussing what is present, and proposing measured responses. That approach remains at the core of everything Balefire Kent does.
Today, our work spans electrical assessments, lighting installation, and panel service for both heritage buildings and contemporary homes throughout the George Town area. We carry full certification and operate in accordance with Malaysian electrical safety standards.

Rajan Haridas
Lead Electrician
Fourteen years of work across Penang Island, with particular experience in the heritage precincts of George Town. Holds a current JKR certification and a quiet preference for heritage rewiring work.
Lena Boon
Lighting Specialist
A background in interior electrical fitting with particular interest in period-appropriate lighting choices. Works closely with clients on fixture selection and handles delicate antique fittings with care.
Arif Kamaruddin
Panel & Systems Technician
Specialises in distribution board assessment and upgrade work for properties with complex electrical histories. Known among clients for his thorough written summaries and accessible explanations.

JKR Certification
All electricians hold current certification from Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia, meeting the country's professional licensing requirements for electrical installation work.

Written Documentation
Every visit is followed by written observations in plain language. Panel work includes updated labeling and a formal written summary for your records.

Practitioners receive guidance on working within Penang's heritage zone properties, including an understanding of conservation sensitivities and period-appropriate approaches.
